Is Weight Gain During Menopause Enevitable?
Hormone changes during menopause do affect a woman’s metabolism. Estrogen and progesterone both affect metabolism and help to build muscle. As these hormone levels drop during menopause, so does our level of lean tissue and as a result we find it easier to gain weight.
The best way to maintain a healthy, lean body during and after menopause, is to eat a healthy balanced diet and take increased exercise in the form of both aerobic and strength training workouts.
In short, weight gain during menopause is not enevitable and, with proper planning, may be reduced or eliminated entirely.
