How Do I Calculate My Waist-Hip Ratio?

Using a tape measure, measure your waist below your rib-cage but above your belly button.

Then measure your hips – the widest part of your butt.

Finally, divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement.

For example, if you are female and your waist is (say) 38 inches and your hips are (say) 46 inches, your waist-hip ratio is 0.82.

This would be slightly outside the recommended waist-hip range for women of 0.8 or less.

For example, if you are male and your waist is (say) 40 inches and your hips are (say) 44 inches, your waist-hip ratio is 0.90

This would be well inside the recommended waist-hip range for men of 0.95 or less.
