Lutheran healthcare, kings county district attorney announce expansion of safe stop program

Lutheran healthcare, kings county district attorney announce expansion of safe stop program and challenge all community agencies and businesses to sign up now

WHO: Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes, Lutheran HealthCare and its community partners and agencies, local businesses, community leaders and local elected officials. Lutheran, the first hospital to become a Safe Stop, is challenging every Brooklyn organization to sign on now. Lutheran will have multiple businesses on hand that have already answered the challenge. Additional attendees include the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow, Sunset Park BID, and our local community boards.

Scheduled speakers include:

  • Charles J. Hynes, Kings County District Attorney.
  • Claudia Caine, Lutheran Medical Center, Hospital Director.
  • Larry McReynolds, Lutheran Family Health Centers, Executive Director.
  • And a variety of business/organization leaders who will answer the challenge.

WHAT: Press conference to announce Lutheran’s latest designation as a Safe Stop facility, an initiative launched by the District Attorney to provide a safe place for anyone to go if they need help in case of an emergency. Lutheran has officially registered its main medical center site and nine community health centers; 10 total sites blanketing southwest Brooklyn from Sunset Park to Park Slope to Bay Ridge and to Church Avenue in Flatbush (information to be provided).

In reaction to recent sexual assaults, Lutheran has actively participated in efforts to help southwest Brooklyn residents stay safe, learn self-defense and be prepared. The District Attorney’s Safe Stop program can make a big difference now for women and others in Brooklyn.

WHERE: Lutheran Medical Center – Main Auditorium, 150 55th Street, Brooklyn, NY
