In a study by Weight Watchers in America of 25,000 married women, those who claimed to be in an unhappy relationship gained an average of 54 pounds during the first 10 years of marriage.

Although the motivation for this added weight remains unclear, according to researchers such weight gain may create a sense of power for some while for others it may protect them from unwanted sexual attention.

Diet Advice

A balanced diet coupled with regular exercise is still the best way to lose weight and reduce fat. Diet is an excellent plan with lots of practical advice about dieting, exercise, diet-motivation and long term weight control.
