Middle-aged women who are overweight double their risk of getting breast cancer.
Cancer Research UK say that post-menopausal women who are overweight have higher levels of estrogen and testosterone and this may double the risks of breast cancer.
They urge post-menopausal women to consider losing weight. Dr Bob Arnot suggests the old ‘if you can pinch more than an inch’ test next to your belly button as the best way to determine whether you need to lose weight.
